Aluminium clad timber windows & doors

A stunning example of a 21st century product! This window is essentially our high performance factory finished timber casement windows and doors clad in PPC (Polyester Powder Coated) aluminium, combining the highly effective insulating benefits of wood with the all‐weather benefits of aluminium. It’s a convincing combination that saves money and lasts a lifetime. The benefits of this arrangement are numerous, making it the product of choice for architects, designers, developers and homeowners alike.

Composite Window and Door Benefits
• Internally only the “soft” lines, warmth and ambience of the timber are visible, retaining that homely feel.
• The timber is available in a range of painted colours, or selected hardwoods to compliment the
internal design package. (Please refer to the “finishing and colours” section)
• Timber offers a high level of thermal efficiency (Typically 1.6W/m2K or less for the whole window
assembly depending on glazing options), resulting in a reduced carbon footprint and energy bills, and has excellent acoustic properties adding to the comfort of the occupants.
• The timber is environmentally friendly FSC/Rainforest Alliance certified, helping you do your bit for the environment.
• The aluminium cladding is fixed to the external face of the timber using specialised clips, no
adhesives detrimental to the environment are used.
• The aluminium surface is extremely durable and able to withstand whatever the elements throw at it.
• Aluminium is easy to maintain with very low associated costs – a wipe with a damp cloth externally is all that is required to clean it. This will soon outweigh the initial higher cost over the product life cycle.
• The air (ventilation) gap between the timber and the aluminium allows for the timber to breathe
thus keeping it stable and prolonging its life.
• There are up to four draught seals incorporated into the frame, ensuring a superb seal and improved insulation values.

• Various opening options are available:
- Casements ‐ Fixed, open in, open out, tilt & turn, reversible. Please refer to the “Timber
Casement Windows” section for more information.
- Doors ‐ Hinged open in/out, Bi‐fold up to 10 doors, Sliding up to 15 meter wide
• The composite products are suitable for an array of markets – residential, commercial, hotels,
healthcare, and many more.
• Should the product ever be removed the materials can be separated easily in order to recycle both the aluminium and timber elements.

Composite Framing Options
There are four framing options available to suit the style of build, each having its own benefits. Please refer to the table below. Should you however require more information (Section details, thermal performance and more) we will be happy to discuss the options in more detail.
The details shown below are all for open‐in windows, but this is available for the open‐out elements as well.

Triple glazing was utilised in these windows, but again a standard double glazed option is available. The diverse range of profiles leaves no design wishes unfulfilled: All standard window designs and types of openings can be implemented in various styles and profile widths. All kinds of slanted windows and round arches can also be provided.

• BRAGA – The BRAGA wood‐aluminium system is based on the classic basic design for woodaluminium systems. BRAGA uses a flush construction, which makes it ideally suited for facades in contemporary elegant designs. The profiles create clear lines at the visible edge. The particular strengths of this system are versatile solutions for demanding architecture at a high technological level.

Designs with the same wood thicknesses for casements and frames are possible with adapted profiles. Together with the fashionable, milled glass bead of the casements, this design is an especially economical and efficient wood‐aluminium window construction option.

Mullions and transoms, available in various widths, permit even complicated window divisions. The frame connections can be carried out either welded or with stable, punched corner connections: Element sizes up to 3.5 x 2.5 m are available.

BRAGA Integral ‐ The essential formation characteristic of BRAGA Integral system is the masked casement with the narrow frame exterior. Fixed glazing and casements are not architecturally distinguishable from the outside. The design provides a maximum of light entry.

• MIRA Therm ‐ Mira Therm is the solution for houses built using low‐energy construction methods. MIRA‐Therm offers all the advantages of modular system and meets today's strict energy‐saving regulations.

An insulating aluminium shell: a simple and a highly effective solution for energy‐saving construction. MIRA‐Therm window achieves U‐values at the frame as low as 0.68 W/m²K

• CORA Economic ‐ The CORA Economic system is based on the classic basic design for woodaluminium systems.

CORA uses a construction with specially engineered Aluminium Sash‐coverings which protect the wood under the horizontal sash that gets a lot of wear and tear as the lower part of the sash is especially vulnerable to weather cycles. The cover design is neat and simple.

Mullions and transoms, available in various widths, permit even complicated window divisions. Element sizes up to 3.5 x 2.5 m are available.

Hinge options
Butt Hinges (side or top hung) are fitted along one edge of the sash and provide a traditional
appearance to the window.

Concealed Friction Hinges (90 & 180 degree opening options) offer a range of standard features.
They are easy to use and the friction system can provide a minimized initial opening angle for child safety. A built‐in quick release lever allows a wide opening angle, as with the standard hinge. The restrictor also automatically resets when the window is closed. The egress friction hinge allows the window to open to up to 90 degrees, providing an emergency exit. The egress hinge also allows easy cleaning from the inside of the building with its release mechanism.

Opening options:
• Side or Top Hung
• Side or Top Swing
• 180 degree reversible friction hinges
• Tilt & Turn
• Fixed Sash
• Direct glazed
• Open in doors
• Open out doors
• Sliding doors
• Bi‐fold doors

Please refer to the timber casement window section for more information and benefits of the
opening types.
